Tesla Bot

 Tesla Bot

Tesla shared many details about the progress of artificial intelligence developments and the self-driving system during its AI Day event last night. Tesla also revealed that they are developing a humanoid, dubbed the Tesla Bot, that will perform heavy, dangerous, and repetitive tasks. The robot, for example, can defuse a bomb while also picking up your groceries.

The Tesla Bot's hands will have five fingers and an androgynous black and white silhouette. The Bot will be equipped with the same cameras as your Tesla with Autopilot.

"Tesla is certainly the most important robotics company in the world, because the cars are semi-conscious robots on wheels, with an on-board computer specifically for autonomous driving," - Elon Musk

It makes sense, according to Musk, that all of this would now be poured into a "humanoid form." According to Elon, a prototype of the Tesla Bot will be released in 2022.

The Tesla Bot's specifications can be found below.

As a foundation, complete self-driving software

The Tesla Bot uses the same technology as Tesla's Full Self-Driving Software, which is almost self-driving (FSD). Those who have seen the full self-driving beta of FSD are aware of how quickly Tesla's neural network learns to drive autonomously. This is an example of how AI can be used in a specific situation. Elon believes that this software will enable more applications.

“This is proof that your current Tesla is already a robot on wheels” - Florian Minderop, owner MisterGreen

Tesla uses a data labeling team of over 1000 people to scale the AI by labeling certain videos (many of which come from Teslas on the road!). The AI team then creates a simulation using these "data labels" from the real world, resulting in "a video game with autonomous software as a player." These simulations are most useful in challenging real-world situations. The autonomous software is used not only by Tesla cars but also by the Tesla Bot, as previously stated.
